Ron Nobbs was born on Norfolk Island on 10 June, 1938. He is married with three adult children and seven grandchildren.
Ron received his primary education at the Norfolk Island Central School. He later attended The Kings School and Hawkesbury Agricultural College, both in NSW, Australia.
Ron began his professional career as the Norfolk Island Agricultural Officer. From Norfolk, he moved to the Northern Territory to do work in environment management, becoming the Regional Manager of the Environment Unit, Katherine, Northern Territory. He retired to Norfolk Island in 1993.
Ron's political career began before he left Norfolk, serving in the then Norfolk Island Advisory Council from 1964 to 1966. Upon returning to Norfolk, he has been elected to the Eighth, Ninth, Tenth and Eleventh Legislative Assembly of Norfolk Island.
Mr Nobbs served as Minister for Finance in the Eleventh Legislative Assembly until 1 June 2006.
