Youth Advisory Council Act  - Read the Legislation

The Norfolk Island Youth Advisory Council was approved by the Legislative Assembly of Norfolk Island to advise the Government about issues that concern young people who live on the Island. A similar, but younger Youth Assembly has been in operation over the last two years and has proved to be very successful. The Members of the Norfolk Island Youth Assembly are all in secondary school.

The Advisory Council  is a statutory body and provides for up to twelve members with a minimum of six. Prospective members need to have attained the age of 16 years and must be less that 30 years old.

It is intended that the Youth Advisory Council will bring issues of concern, or any new iniatives to the Norfolk Island Government's attention or for implementation. Conversely, the Government will have the opportunity to request advice from the Council on matters that are being considered.
